Colts' QB Luck May Benefit From Former O.C. At Stanford
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CBS Sports) -- Matt Hasselbeck hasn't been around the Indianapolis Colts long, but he's been around long enough to appreciate the quarterback starting ahead of him.
"Andrew Luck," he said, "is hitting it out of the park. He's talented, but I've seen talented guys before. What is really special about him is his focus, his ability to process quickly, what he does at the line of scrimmage and his ability to get the respect of the locker room. He doesn't blink. He's always trying to be better and smarter."
Hasselbeck is right: Luck is really special. He did the implausible as a rookie, turning the last-place Colts into a playoff team by adding nine wins overnight. With the bar raised, the expectations for Indianapolis and Andrew Luck this year are high, even though both suffered setbacks with the departure of offensive coordinator Bruce Arians to Arizona.
That's a significant loss, but it could be mitigated by the addition of Luck's former offensive coordinator at Stanford, Pep Hamilton, now Arians' successor. But it depends how he, his quarterback and Hamilton's offense respond to another challenge.
