"He was leaving a class that was in the portable village that's near that parking lot," he said.
The student was then forced to drive to Tamalpais Valley where he was sexually assaulted before breaking free and running for help.
Nelson said the flood lights were set up in temporary parking lot used by students who take night classes and that there will be additional changes.
"We're going to daylight hours in the parking lot only. We're taking the flood lights down today and you will have the parking lot closing at 5 p.m. and we'll start making some behavior changes for people to make them understand that the parking lot closes sooner and police will be there to let people out of the parking lot--until people can get used to that program," he said.
Nelson said that police patrols and presence on campus have also been increased.
Student Brenda Perez said the changes are a relief.
"I had a nightmare about that last night. I'm not even kidding. It's kind of scared me a bit," said Perez.
The college will also host a series of town hall meetings about the incident this week and next.
