Cold Yet To Bring Snow To Santa Cruz Mountains
SCOTTS VALLEY (KCBS) - Not a single snow flake could be found in the Santa Cruz Mountains Thursday morning, despite some chilly overnight temperatures.
"It usually snows at least once a year up there," said Greg Martin, warming himself at the Scotts Valley Starbucks.

Not Cold Enough For Santa Cruz Mountains To Snow Yet
Overnight lows dipped into the 30s. The National Weather Service predicts the cold brought by a Gulf of Alaska storm system will linger through Monday morning.
Snow is possible down to about 1,500 feet in the Santa Cruz Mountains through Friday morning, a forecast Martin said he does not relish because of his commute on Highway 17.
"It gets a little slippery. A few people get in wrecks, but so far I've been lucky," he said, adding that it had been cold enough for him to shut off his well so the pipes don't burst.
The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for the South Bay and a freeze warning for the North Bay Valleys between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday.
Because of the cold snap, homeless advocates in San Jose announced plans to hand out blankets at encampments along Coyote Creek on Thursday night.
