Closing Arguments This Week In Bryan Stow Beating Trial
LOS ANGELES (KCBS)— Closing arguments are slated to begin Thursday morning in the trial over the lawsuit of the beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow. The judge said each side will be given an hour and a half to make their arguments.
Stow was beaten at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium in April 2011 at an opening-day game between the two rival teams. He listened to most of the final testimony dressed in a sweat suit and was brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair.
His closely-shaved head revealed a huge scar on his scalp. Stow's family is seeking about $38 million in damages from the Dodger's and the team's former owner Frank McCourt for his lifetime's worth of health care.
McCourt's attorney's argued Stow's live expectancy has been cut by about 10 years and lowered the estimate of his healthcare to $11 million.
Stow's attorney Tom Girardi sent him out of the courtroom while attorney's argued his lifespan.
"You know, I wanted to excuse him on the life expectancy testimony. I didn't ant to emotionally upset him," said Girardi.
The testimony was too much for Stow's mother Ann, who also walked out. Outside the courtroom she said she was tired from being in court for the five-week-long trial and wanted to got home.
