Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, who made the 1976 version of the film with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, are set to produce.
Screen star Janet Gaynor starred in the original film in 1937, while Judy Garland played the lead role in the 1954 adaptation with James Mason.
While Beyonce has been attached to the project for quite some time, reports have surfaced that Russell Crow and Will Smith are both being considered for the lead male role.
Corporate spokeswoman Jessica Zacholl told the Associated Press that the deals have not been finalized and negotiations are ongoing.
