City Planning Promotional Boost For Tokyo Flights Out Of San Jose
SAN JOSE (KCBS)— San Jose has a lot riding on the success of ANA's five-day-a-week service to Tokyo, which is the reason the city wants to pump more money into the route's promotional campaign.
The city wants to spend $100,000 more money on a promotional campaign because the success of ANA's Tokyo route is critical for the airport.
"A lot of the other airlines, both domestic and international, are looking at the success of ANA and will determine whether or not they want to come into San Jose and add additional flights or add new service. It's really important to us that the ANA flight is successful so that we can depend on that as kind of a reputation builder to bring in more flights for us," said airport spokeswoman Vicki Day.

She said they're also seeing overall passenger traffic rebounding.
"March and April were particularly strong. We had an over five percent increase, which is pretty high. ANA resumed their service June 1st," Day said.
The 787s were grounded for more than four months because of battery problems.
