Christmas Presents Handed Out To Needy San Jose Families
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - A San Jose charity planned to hand out 20,000 toys to low income families by the end of the day Wednesday. Some parents even camped out overnight outside Sacred Heart Community Service.
"It means that my kids are going to have a happy Christmas," said one woman in line. "Things that I can't afford to buy them they can get."
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
Executive Director Poncho Guevara said that they were stunned to see the large demand for toys this year.
"We actually had people lined up in November to sign up for this program, and it was in throngs that we had never seen before," said Guevara.
Each parent got to choose a stocking stuffer, a book, a stuffed animal, and two toys for each of their children.
