'Very Sweet' Pit Bull Found By CHP On Interstate 880 In Oakland Reunited With Owner
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A pit bull found wandering far from home on Interstate 880 by California Highway Patrol officers earlier this week was reunited with her owner on Thursday.
The female pit bull, named Piglet, was found around 6 p.m. Wednesday along the freeway near 66th Street.
After finding the dog on the highway, Oakland CHP officers launched a search through their Facebook page, describing the dog as being "very sweet and clearly has been taken care of by someone."
Officers said thanks to social media, they were able to find Piglet's owner less than 24 hours later.
"By the time I knew she was gone, we had no idea which way she went," Jose Rosas, Piglet's owner, told KPIX 5. "So we were looking for her for about three hours all the way down 85th, East 14th. But none of us thought to check the freeway. So, thank you to whoever pulled over and stopped her."
The CHP said ususally the have to use a lunch to coax a lost dog into their patrol car, but not in Piglet's case. Officers said she is very friendly and came running right over.
