CHP Investigates Sunday Sideshow That Halted Bay Bridge Traffic
YERBA BUENA ISLAND (CBS SF) -- Drivers were backed up for miles early Sunday evening when a group of drivers blocked off all eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge to hold a sideshow on the span.
CHP confirmed that the incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. A group of five cars slowed down in unison and blocked off all eastbound lanes just as traffic emerges from the Yerba Buena Tunnel.
Instagram user "Bay Area Movement" posted video of the sideshow. It shows a black car doing donuts as tires squeal and rubber burns. According to media reports, CHP estimate 50 cars were involved in the sideshow.
There were no injuries and no one was arrested as a result of the incident, according to authorities.
CHP is investigated who was behind the sideshow and told KPIX 5 they have obtained a license plate number to one of the vehicles involved.
