CHP Continues Search For Vehicle In Deadly Sonoma County Hit-And-Run
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol continues to search for the driver of a Ford truck that hit and killed San Francisco attorney Donald Casper as he was jogging in Sonoma County earlier this month.
Investigators believe the truck was a 2004 to 2008 Ford F-150 XLT or Lariat with four doors. It was white with a gold stripe.
The truck might be hidden or parked in a garage. The CHP is asking the public to identify anyone who owns a similar truck and has suddenly stopped driving it. The truck might have right front-end damage.
Casper, 63, vice president of the San Francisco Civil Service Commission, was jogging along the south edge of eastbound River Road west of Wilshire Drive on Aug. 14 when he was struck by the truck around 7 p.m.
Witnesses said the truck slowed down, then fled east on River Road.
Emergency responders found him on the shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
A $12,500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver.
Anyone with information can contact the CHP Santa Rosa Area at (707) 588-1400 or the CHP tip line at (707) 588-5023 ext. 238.
