CHP Adds Patrols After Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza Holdups
VALLEJO (CBS SF) - The California Highway Patrol has added patrols around the Carquinez Bridge, where a robber held up a toll worker on Tuesday in the latest in a string of such crimes.
Around 6 a.m. Tuesday, a driver entering the eastbound Interstate Highway 80 toll plaza exited his car and demanded cash from the toll attendant, CHP officials said.
The worker handed over cash and the man sped off.
Officers from the CHP, the Vallejo Police Department and the California Department of Transportation are investigating the case but have not found the suspect, Officer Chris Parker said.
According to the CHP, there have been "many previous robberies of this nature" at the same toll plaza.
The CHP encourages anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it immediately by calling 911, and to be prepared to describe suspicious motorists and their cars.
