CDC Cleared Texas Nurse Now Diagnosed With Ebola To Fly On Commercial Flight
DALLAS (CBS SF) -- The CDC knew that the Texas nurse now diagnosed with Ebola had a slight fever before clearing her to fly on a commercial flight.
Amber Joy Vinson spoke with the CDC official responsible for monitoring her health before she boarded the flight Monday. She had no symptoms. The official, who was responsible for monitoring Vinson, cleared her to fly.
UC Berkeley Professor of Infectious Diseases Dr. Lee Riley told KPIX 5 that shouldn't have happened.
"If they knew she was one of the people being monitored, she should have never have been allowed to travel."
The Frontier plane she flew on is being decontaminated, and the airline warned all passengers aboard that day.
