CBS Tops 2013 Daytime Emmy Nominations
(CBS NEWS) - Nominations for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy awards were unveiled on Wednesday morning, and CBS leads the network pack with 50 Emmy nominations, followed by PBS with 44, ABC with 38, Nickelodeon with 36 and NBC with 25.
Overall, the CBS soap "The Young and the Restless" tops with 23 Daytime Emmy nominations, followed by ABC's "General Hospital" with 19. PBS' "Sesame Street" and the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives" both scored 17 nominations.
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" leads the talk show list with 10 noms, and the talk show host nominees are Anderson Cooper, Steve Harvey, Ricki Lake, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Rachael Ray. For top entertainment talk show honors, "Ellen" will be up against CBS' "The Talk," ABC's "The View" and "Live with Kelly and Michael."
"CBS Sunday Morning" will compete with ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" for top morning program.
Monty Hall of "Let's Make a Deal" and Bob Stewart of "To Tell the Truth" and "Password" will be honored with lifetime achievement awards at this year's gala.
In 2012, "General Hospital" won big with five Daytime Emmys.
The 2013 Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on June 16 in Beverly Hills, Calif., airing on the cable network HLN.
