Castro Valley Hit and Run Driver On The Loose

CASTRO VALLEY (KCBS) -- The search is on for a hit and run driver who struck a pedestrian in unincorporated Alameda County, near Castro Valley Thursday morning.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Jim Allen said it happened shortly after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and 164th Avenue. A man in his sixties was apparently trying to cross the street when a white Toyota Corolla drove up and collided with the man. The driver of the car then sped off without stopping.

"Following the collision, the Toyota then fled the scene southbound on Foothill Boulevard and at this time, both the driver and the vehicle are outstanding, and the investigation continues to identify both," said Allen.

Allen said the victim suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for treatment. At the time of the accident, the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The white Corolla will more than likely have some kind of front end damage. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the CHP.
