Castro Valley Child Bitten By Dog; 2nd East Bay Mauling In 2 Days
CASTRO VALLEY (CBS 5) - For the second time in two days, East Bay authorities are investigating a dog attack on a small child.
Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson confirmed Tuesday that a child was badly bitten by family dog on the 21000 block of Gary Drive in Castro Valley early Tuesday morning.
Nelson said a two-year old child was in Oakland Children's Medical Center after the Pit Bull German Shepherd mix attacked. Authorities are not releasing the nature of the child's injuries.
Investigators are looking into the circumstances of the attack to see if there's any evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
On Monday, a 2-year-old Concord girl was airlifted to a hospital after being bitten by her family's pit bull. She is expected to survive injuries to her head and legs. County authorities put the animal down early Tuesday.
