Car Stuck On Tracks Disrupts Caltrain Service In San Mateo
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- Caltrain service is resuming Thursday night after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks in downtown San Mateo, stopping all trains for over an hour, Caltrain officials said.
Caltrain reported around 7:30 p.m. that a car had been struck on the tracks near the Second Avenue crossing. No one was in the vehicle, Caltrain said.
Trains were letting passengers off at Burlingame and Hayward Park with a bus bridge to take passengers between the two stations.
A tow truck showed up shortly after 8 p.m. and had the car cleared from the tracks by 9 p.m., and trains were slated to start moving through San Mateo shortly after that, according to Caltrain.
It is the second night in a row that Caltrain service has been disrupted. Train service was halted for hours Wednesday when a power line fell on the tracks in San Mateo.
