Caltrain Service Disrupted By Fire Near Tracks In San Francisco's Bayview District
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A fire on the tracks in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood has been put out, and Caltrain service is set to resume, a spokeswoman said this afternoon.
The first trains will operate at a reduced speed through the area affected by the fire, spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
Northbound train .435 is leaving the Bayshore station 20 minutes late, and southbound train .436 is leaving San Francisco 30 minutes late.
In addition, northbound train .433 was turned south during the incident and will make all local stops south to San Jose.
No other trains will be affected, Dunn said.
The brush fire was reported above a tunnel at Paul Avenue at about 2 p.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and no one was injured, but north and southbound train service was suspended between the Bayshore and San Francisco stations while crews remained at the scene, Dunn said.
During the incident, Caltrain riders were being advised to take
BART from San Francisco to Millbrae to transfer to Caltrain.
BART was honoring all Caltrain tickets north of Millbrae.
