Caltrain Operating Normally After Deadly Wreck Monday Night
BURLINGAME (CBS SF) - Caltrain has opened both tracks following a Monday night fatality at the Broadway station in Burlingame.
Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said southbound train No. 192 struck and killed a man on the tracks around 9 p.m.
The man has not been identified, and there has been no word as to why he was on the tracks.
There were about 400 people on the train. There were no other reported injuries in the incident, officials said.
The incident caused train delays ranging from 15 minutes to an hour.
The train was moved to the Burlingame station at about 10:30 p.m. and passengers were able to get off the train and board another southbound train, Dunn said.
Both tracks affected by the incident were reopened around 11:15 p.m.
Officials said this is the sixth fatality this year involving Caltrain. There were 13 fatalities in 2013.
