Caltrain Delayed After Separate Crashes With 2 Vehicles
ATHERTON (CBS SF) - Caltrain is experiencing delays due to two separate incidents involving trains and cars this evening in Atherton and San Jose, Caltrain officials said.
Around 7:30 p.m., southbound Caltrain No. 284 struck a vehicle on the tracks at Fair Oaks Avenue in Atherton, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
The vehicle was unoccupied, she said.
No injuries were reported to anyone on the train and passengers exited the train at the Atherton station located at 1 Dinkelspiel Station Lane, Dunn said.
Caltrain police and personnel are at the scene.
Caltrain officials said they are in the process of opening northbound tracks between Redwood City and Palo Alto, according to Dunn.
Crews need to remove the vehicle that is under a locomotive before the tracks are reopened, she said.
Around the same time, northbound Caltrain No. 191 struck debris from the crash, Dunn said.

Those tracks are owned by Union Pacific Railroad, which will need to inspect the tracks, Dunn said.
