Cal's Keenan Allen To Miss Spring Practices With Injury
BERKELEY (AP) - California wide receiver and Pac-12 Conference first-team selection Keenan Allen is scheduled to have ankle surgery that will sideline him for all of spring practice.
Cal coach Jeff Tedford said Wednesday that Allen will be back for summer workouts and be ready for the season opener Sept. 1 against Nevada at refurbished Memorial Stadium. Allen is scheduled to have surgery Thursday.
The Golden Bears begin spring practice Tuesday.
Allen had 98 catches for 1,343 yards and six touchdowns last season. He also has 2,380 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns in two years at Berkeley and could be one of the top receivers in next year's NFL draft if he decides to forego his senior season.
