California Attorney General Race Remains Tight
SACRAMENTO (KCBS) - Two days after voters went to the polls, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris remains slightly ahead of Los Angeles D.A. Steve Cooley in the race for State Attorney General.
Although both sides remain confident, the race is still too close to declare a victor.
Six and a half million ballots have already been counted and the Democrat Harris leads her Republican opponent by only a few thousand votes.

Harris' campaign strategist, Ace Smith, said it is too soon to call his candidate a winner, something the Cooley campaign made the mistake of doing when he was ahead.
"What we are declaring is confidence that when all the votes are counted, we're going to win this thing," Smith said.
Cooley's campaign said that with a million more ballots to count, the results could go either way.
"I've got a good day job and I'm very patient," Cooley said. "So, we'll see what happens and let the process work."
Although the raw numbers are close, Harris is way ahead in several counties, including Santa Clara, San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa.
Meanwhile, Cooley is leading in San Diego, Sacramento and Santa Barbara counties.
