Cal To Open Vs. Arkansas In Maui Invitational Hoops
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- The Cal men's basketball team has learned that it will open the eight-team Maui Invitational against Arkansas on Nov. 25 in Lahaina, Hawaii.
Other first-round games in the three-day tournament include Gonzaga vs. Dayton, Syracuse vs Minnesota and Baylor vs. host Chaminade.
The tourney will mark just the second time that Cal and Arkansas have played. The two met once before, also in Hawaii. The Bears and the Razorbacks squared off in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu on Dec. 30, 1986, a 75-58 win for Arkansas.
Cal is coming off its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the past five seasons, having fallen 66-60 to Syracuse in the third round last season. The Golden Bears will face either Syracuse or Minnesota in their second game of the Maui Invitational on Nov. 26.
Arkansas was 19-13 last season and missed the NCAA Tournament for its fifth-straight year.
