Cal Football Recruiter Arrested In Oakland Prostitution Sting
BERKELEY (KPIX 5) – A top recruiter for the California football team has been placed on leave, after authorities said he was arrested in a prostitution sting last week.
Coach and recruiter Pierre Ingram was arrested at a Motel 6 in Oakland on Thursday. His lawyer Darryl Stallworth said it's an embarrassment for his client.
According to authorities, it started when Ingram made contact with a woman online. Police said he agreed to meet her at the Motel 6. The woman turned out to be an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute.
Ingram was one of five men caught in the Oakland Police Department's latest sex trafficking sting.
On Monday, the university announced Ingram is on administrative leave. In a written statement, Stallworth told KPIX 5 that despite his client's arrest, "There was no exchange of money or physical interaction. Mr. Ingram is extremely sorry for the embarrassment that this event has caused his family and the University of California."
His lawyer also revealed Ingram is seeking counseling.
