Cal 1st In Pac-12 After Victory Over UCLA 73-63
LOS ANGELES (CBS / AP) -- Justin Cobbs scored 18 points and California withstood UCLA's late rally to win 73-63 Saturday, moving the Golden Bears into sole possession of first in the Pac-12 with their 20th victory of the season.
Allen Crabbe added 14 and Jorge Gutierrez 13 for the Bears (20-6, 10-3), who shot 52 percent from the floor in completing their first season sweep of the Bruins since 1993-94. The Bears beat Southern California 75-49 on Thursday night and have won all four regular-season games against the LA schools for the first time since 1958-59.
The Bears had been tied for first in the league with Washington, which plays at Oregon State on Sunday. They earned their third 20-win season under coach Mike Montgomery.
Jerime Anderson scored 16 points, Lazeric Jones 15 and David Wear 11 for the Bruins (14-11, 7-6), who lost at home for the first time in six games.
