CA Congressman Lungren: Focus on Jobs
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCBS) _ As the economy continues to struggle, California Republican Congressman Dan Lungren is lashing out against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
California's statewide unemployment rate stands above 12 percent and Lungren said the focus needs to be on jobs.
"If we want more employees, what we need to do is to encourage employers," he said. "And everything we have done under Nancy Pelosi's direction in the House has been directed at discouraging employers."

Lungren said stimulus spending, which he said Democrats claim saved the economy from falling off a cliff, has actually indebted the government for years.
"You have to get rid of this uncertainty that's hanging over the heads of employers in the United States right now about whether they're going to see a huge tax increase come January 1," said Lungren. "You have to get rid of the uncertainty with respect to what's the regulatory atmosphere going to be."
Economic pessimism is expected to play a role in the upcoming midterm elections in November.
