Burglary Suspect Shot In Head By Homeowner Leaves Hospital, Booked Into Jail
EL CERRITO (CBS SF) -- A suspect in a residential burglary earlier this month in El Cerrito who was shot by the homeowner has been booked into jail in connection with the burglary, police said Wednesday.
Shawn Marbley, 34, of Oakland, was shot in the head on Sept. 2 during a burglary on Cutting Boulevard, according to police.
The 85-year-old homeowner told investigators he was home alone when he spotted suspicious people in his backyard, police said.
The homeowner armed himself with a gun and shot at two burglars who allegedly entered the residence by breaking a back door, police said.

The suspects fled, and officers later located one of them injured near the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. The suspect tried to run but was arrested, and officers discovered he had been shot in the head, according to police.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect gave a false name, but was later determined to be Marbley, police said.
He was transported to a hospital in serious condition and remained there under guard until Sept. 7, when he was booked into county jail on suspicion of burglary and on a parole violation warrant.
Police are still seeking additional suspects associated with the burglary, as well as a vehicle described as a white or gray sedan. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call El Cerrito police at (510) 215-4400.
