Brutal Vacaville Stabbing, Sex Assault Leaves Teen Girl, Infant Brother Critical
VACAVILLE (BCN) -- A 13-year-old girl and an 18-month-old infant were stabbed multiple times by a teenage boy in their Vacaville home early Sunday morning, according to police.
A police SWAT team responded to the 1200 block of Balsam Way around 2:35 a.m. when a teenage girl ran from her home to a neighbor's after being stabbed more than 30 times and sexually assaulted, according to Vacaville police.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:
Police Sgt. Denise Quatman said the 14-year-old suspect eventually fell asleep, giving the girl an opportunity to grab her brother and escape. Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition but were expected to survive.
Preliminary information revealed that the suspect entered the victims' home and awakened the teenage girl, stabbed her and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
During the course of the attack, the victim's infant brother awoke and was stabbed more than 10 times, police said.
The teenage suspect was found by responding officers inside the home and was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested on two counts of attempted homicide and multiple sexual assault charges and booked into a juvenile detention facility in Solano County.
Investigators have not identified a motive for the crime, but believe the suspect was acquainted with the victims' older brother.
As of Sunday morning, the crime was not being investigated as gang-related.
