Bronze Memorial Plaques Stolen From Modesto Church
MODESTO (CBS/AP) -- Dozens of bronze plaques have been pried off a memorial wall at a Modesto church.
The small plaques, which featured names of deceased parishioners as well as dates of birth and death, were taken late Saturday or early Sunday from a garden at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Modesto.
They were apparently taken by a metal thief.
The plaques would be worth only a few dollars each.
Detectives who specialize in metal theft have been working with Stanislaus County recyclers in an effort to find thieves.
