Boy Shoots Younger Boy With A BB Gun Demanding Money On Busy Palo Alto Street
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after shooting a 9-year-old acquaintance in the arm with a BB gun and demanding money from him, Palo Alto police said Monday.
The incident was reported at 7:44 p.m. Friday in the 3900 block of El Camino Real. The 9-year-old boy had swelling and redness to one of his forearms but was not seriously injured, according to police.
Investigators determined the 14-year-old approached the younger boy, with whom he was previously acquainted, and shot him once with an airsoft gun. The victim tried to run away but the suspect chased him, pointed the BB gun at him again and demanded money, police said.
The victim didn't have any money and the suspect eventually left him alone. The victim then told a parent, who called police.
The 14-year-old was then arrested on suspicion of felony attempted robbery, then was released to the custody of a parent. His name is not being released because he is a juvenile, police said.
Officers determined the airsoft gun belonged to a third boy and took possession of it. That boy's parents also handed over five additional airsoft pistols to police.
