Boy Dies When Newspaper Delivery Van Overturns In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- A boy riding in a van that delivers newspapers to retail stores has been killed in an accident on a Sacramento freeway, and the California Highway Patrol thinks the van's driver was intoxicated.
The boy was ejected from the van when it flipped over on a freeway on-ramp early Sunday.
The 11-year-old died at UC Davis Medical Center. A 3-year-old child who was also in the car was treated at the hospital, while a 10-year-old passenger was uninjured.
The woman driver worked for a newspaper distribution company and was carrying copies of the Sunday Bee that spilled onto the freeway when it overturned.
CHP Officer Lizz Dutton said that the driver could be charged with vehicular manslaughter.
