Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation Of SF Red Cross Building
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A building on San Francisco's Market Street that houses American Red Cross offices was evacuated Monday morning because of a bomb threat.
The threat, made around 10:15 a.m., was directed at a building in the 1600 block of Market Street near Gough Street, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
Red Cross spokeswoman Cynthia Shaw said someone called in the threat by phone this morning. The Red Cross contacted police after an employee fielded the call, she said.
The building that was evacuated also houses a National Holistic Institute campus.
Shortly before noon, about two-dozen evacuees were waiting at the corner of Market and Gough streets.
A few minutes later, the evacuation order was lifted and they were let back into the building.
