Bizarre Berkeley Carjacking Includes Bathroom Break For Alleged Robber
BERKELEY (KPIX 5) -- A bizarre carjacking and robbery in Berkeley Wednesday morning involved a bathroom break for one of the alleged robbers.
Police say a man pointed a gun at the male victim as he was getting out of his car, stole his keys and cell-phone, then forced him to go upstairs so he could use the bathroom.
The incident started on 7th street around 7 a.m.
Police say the suspect forced the victim's grandmother out of the apartment's bathroom, then made the victim turn around while he used the toilet.
The suspects then left in the victim's car.
Officers found him about an hour later at a car wash on University Avenue.
25-year-old Joseph Skyler was booked into jail on suspicion of robbery and carjacking.
His passenger, 24-year-old Harold Dennis was also arrested.
Officers also found a two-month-old puppy in the car, which is now in the care of animal control officers.
The grandmother is still in shock over the incident.
"I didn't want to let him come in, and he was acting funny, and my grandson had a funny look on his face. At first, I was hesitating. I didn't want him in there," she said.
The suspects face several charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, and carrying a loaded gun into a public place.
