David Letterman Marks 20 Years On CBS' 'Late Show'
(CBS NEWS) - David Letterman celebrated his 20th anniversary on CBS Thursday night with a familiar face: Bill Murray.
Murray, who was Letterman's first "Late Show" guest on Aug. 30 1993, made an encore visit, joking that he couldn't remember much about that time period.
The 62-year-old Murray emerged on to the stage in a vintage Rolls-Royce, channeling his best Liberace with an elaborate white get-up that included a fur-trimmed cape. To top it off, he was carrying a white toy poodle.
"Wow...Delightful. I didn't know you had a dog," Letterman pointed out. "I had to get something that went with this outfit," said Murray, who later took a jackhammer to the floor, where he found a time capsule filled with "artifacts" from 1993. Inside he discovered a newspaper with a headline about rival late-night host Jay Leno, as well as a hairpiece Murray said Letterman had "worn" on his first show.
