Crews Knock Down Fire That Engulfed Big Rigs At Port Of Oakland
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Fire crews in Oakland were able to contain a fire that broke out at the Port Of Oakland early Thursday, engulfing several big rigs and sending a plume of smoke skyward that was visible for miles.
Authorities said the fire was reported around 8:16 a.m. at the sprawling port. Several fire crews responded to fight the blaze and keep it from spreading among the thousands of containers stacked at the port.
Oakland fire officials confirmed three big rigs and one trailer were ablaze.
Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to any additional vehicles. The Oakland Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
