Big-Rig Crash, Fuel Spill Snarls Sunnyvale 101 Commute
SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- All lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Sunnyvale were opened following a big-rig crash and fuel spill Thursday morning.
The big-rig hit a guardrail, struck a light pole and overturned near the Lawrence Expressway on-ramp about 2:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash caused debris and about 30 gallons of fuel to spill onto the highway, CHP officials said.
The cleanup was completed and all lanes were reopened at 7:20 a.m.
According to the CHP, the driver of the big-rig suffered a minor cut to his forehead but refused medical treatment.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
