Big Rig Fire Cleared From Richmond-San Rafael Bridge
SAN RAFAEL (KCBS) - All lanes of the Richmond-San Rafael bridge were reopened Thursday after a big rig carrying wine caught fire on the span, shutting eastbound lanes for hours.
The fire reported at 10 a.m. was put out within 20 minutes and the driver was able to escape without getting hurt, according to officials at the San Rafael Fire Department.
Although the fire was contained to the truck's cab, the smoke could be seen for miles. Caltrans officials said the flames do not appear to have damaged the bridge.
