Big Crowds Expected For SF Fillmore District Mardi Gras Celebration
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Thousands of people are expected to line the streets in San Francisco's Fillmore neighborhood to celebrate Fat Tuesday.
The neighborhood has a long history of delivering live music, good food and fun times. Fat Tuesday in the Fillmore organizer Meaghan Mitchell said the only thing that changes on Tuesday night is the style of celebration.

"The event aims at recreating the whole Mardi Gras vibe," she said.
Several clubs and restaurants are offering special deals on food and drinks. That includes Bruno's Pizzeria, which is located across the street from Yoshi's.
"There's a lot of history in this area," said Bruno's owner Mike Awadalla. "People coming in and discovering this area again helps everybody."
Bruno's will be offering customers 10 percent off their entire bill for the evening along with several specials on local brews.
Many restaurants are tweaking their menus as well, including 1300 on Fillmore.
"We'll have fried oysters and I'm going to do a gumbo as well," said Executive Chef David Lawrence. "We're all looking forward to the fat fries."
Wristbands can be purchased for $5 to get those discounts on drinks and food, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Jazz Heritage Center.
