Berkeley Marina Searched After Sex Assault On Child Reported
BERKELEY (KCBS) - Police in Berkeley continued to search for a man Tuesday after a mother reported her 6-year-old son had possibly been sexually assaulted in a public bathroom at the Berkeley Marina.
Berkeley Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Mary Kusmiss said police responded immediately with help from the East Bay Regional Park District's helicopter as well as Department of Fish and Game officers.
The suspect was described as an African-American man with blonde hair with green streaks.
"We were able to contain…the Marina, had to lock it down if you will, and have actively been searching for the suspect since 1:35 p.m.," Kusmiss said.
A perimeter around the Berkeley Marina was put in place Tuesday afternoon. Cars in and out were stopped and checked for the suspect and for any additional information that can be gathered.
