Beaten Giants Fan May Be Moved To Bay Area Hospital
LOS ANGELES (CBS SF) -- A San Francisco Giants fan who was assaulted in Los Angeles outside Dodger Stadium in March could be transferred to a Bay Area hospital as soon as next week.
Bryan Stow, 42, who has been in a coma at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center since the March 31 attack, could be transferred to a Bay Area facility if doctors determine that he is stable enough to be transported, hospital spokeswoman Rosa Saca said.
"Transferring will probably be by the middle to the end of next week," Saca said.
If Stow continues to show stable vital signs, and if results of an MRI show that there is no buildup of fluid or swelling in his brain, the Giants fan would likely be flown to the University of California at San Francisco, Saca said.
Doctors hope to perform an MRI on Stow some time this week, Saca said.
Stow remains comatose and unresponsive, Saca said.
Stow, an emergency technician, was attacked near Dodger Stadium's F2 parking lot by two men wearing Dodgers clothing, according to police.
The men taunted Stow for being a Giants fan and hit him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
Stow's friends tried to intervene and were also assaulted.
No one has been arrested for the attack.
