Bay Point Man Dies After Home Stabbing, Girlfriend Arrested
BAY POINT (BCN) - A Bay Point woman has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing her boyfriend to death in their apartment early Friday morning, a Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman said.
Shanay Smith, 30, allegedly stabbed her 49-year-old boyfriend Aaron Compton Jr. in their home in the 2900 block of Mary Ann Lane in unincorporated Bay Point around 2 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Officers responding to a call of an incident found Compton on the floor suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his chest, according to Lee and the Contra Costa County coroner's office.
Compton was given first aid and taken to John Muir Medical Center in Concord, where he was pronounced dead, Lee said.
Smith was interviewed Friday afternoon, and detectives placed her under arrest around 5 p.m. on suspicion of homicide and domestic violence, Lee said.
Officers recovered the suspected murder weapon, Lee said, but could not say where it was found or how it's connected to Smith.
Detectives are not seeking any other suspects.
