Bay Area Transit Guide To Super Bowl 50

Are you having nightmares about driving 40 miles from San Francisco and finding Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara for Super Bowl 50? That makes you one of 75,000 ticket holders for Feb. 7, 2016, all with similar thoughts. Public transit offers several options and a few more details at the host committee website.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, or VTA, serves San Jose and the towns in Silicon Valley, such as Campbell, Milpitas, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, with 62 stations on three lines. The closest light rail station is Great America, named for the theme park, which is located just west of the stadium's north side in the median of Tasman Drive. Those planning to use VTA services to get to the game should pre-purchase an EventTIK, downloadable on iTunes or Google Play, as they will be required to access a special limited stops train to the stadium. Tickets will be $20 round-trip.

VTA will also operate buses serving the Greater San Jose area, Mountain View, Cupertino and Sunnyvale. Express bus lines will operate with direct service from several nearby park & ride lots, with locations seen here. There are two drop-off locations at Levi's Stadium at the intersection of Tasman Drive and Great America Parkway and at the intersection of Tasman Drive and Calle Del Sol.

Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) has set up non-refundable Big Game Trains with advance ticket pricing and extra parking. The trains use the Caltrain tracks to Great America/Levi's Stadium station, departing from San Jose's Diridon station four times daily. Heading north, the first stop is Santa Clara station, near the Mineta San Jose International Airport. The second stop, Great America, is for Levi's Stadium. The end of the line is Stockton, and cities called on include Fremont, Pleasanton, Livermore, Vasco, Tracy and Lathrop/Manteca. Wi-Fi is in the first car behind the locomotive.

Caltrain can get you there. The San Francisco Caltrain station is located one block from AT&T Park. Football fans heading to Levi's Stadium can ride Caltrain to Mountain View and transfer to VTA light rail. Clipper cards are valid, but Super Bowl ticketholders must purchase the joint Caltrain/VTA ticket online in advance.

Highways 101, 237, 880, Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway lead to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., 40 miles south of San Francisco and less than 10 miles north of San Jose. The stadium provides courtesy shuttles buses and golf carts from several parking lots. Guest services may be contacted in advance if wheelchair service is required. For designated drivers, including taxi and rideshare options, the pick-up/drop-off area is located off Tasman Drive at the intersection of Calle De Luna.

- Uber drivers will be utilizing Red Lot 7, north of the stadium
- Taxis will be located on Calle de Luna, east of the stadium
- No other vehicles will be allowed to drop off in either location

- All parking lots open at 9:00AM PST on Super Bowl 50 Sunday
- Tailgating will not be allowed in any Super Bowl 50 parking lots
- There will be no bus, limousine, sedan or shuttle drop off or pick up areas at Levi's® Stadium for Super Bowl 50
- All fans must have a valid game ticket in order to purchase a parking pass, which can be purchased on superbowl.parkmobile.com
