Bay Area Transit Fares Rise
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A number of Bay Area transit agencies are increasing fares starting Sunday.
In San Francisco, adult fast passes have increased $2 to $74 a month, and Muni-only passes are now $64. Passes for youth, seniors and disabled riders have also gone up by $1, to $22.
BART fares increase 1.4 percent, or about 5 cents for the average fare, according to BART officials.
Golden Gate Transit bus and ferry fares are increased by 5 percent.
On Caltrain, prices will increase for people buying paper tickets, 25 cents for a one-way ticket and 50 cents for a Day Pass.
In addition, the discount for eight-ride tickets has been reduced from 15 percent off the one-way fare to 7.5 percent. The validity period of the tickets will also be cut in half, to 30 days.
For users of Clipper transit cards, the amount deducted for passes and tickets will be adjusted automatically.
