Bay Area Storm Could Generate 10-Inches Of Rain, Wind Gusts Up To 50 MPH

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A Pacific storm heading toward the Bay Area could generate ten inches of rain, wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, and treacherous conditions in the Sierra Nevada.

The North Bay could see up to ten inches of rain by the end of Thursday.  Schools across the Bay Area announced closures in anticipation of the storm.

A large swath of the Bay Area stretching from San Jose to Santa Rosa could see wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.

In San Francisco crews worked to clear rocks and debris from the cliffs of Telegraph Hill to prevent anything from falling due to the storm.

Rain boots were even in short supply around the Bay Area.  Flash flooding was possible due to the rain, according to KPIX 5 Meteorologist Paul Deanno.

At least 80 flights were cancelled into and out of San Francisco International Airport.
