Bay Area Gay Couple Heads To New York To Get Married
SAN FRANCISCO - A San Francisco couple will be among those who will tie the knot in the Big Apple this summer.
Joe Gallagher and Mike McAllister met at the barbershop where Joe worked in 2002. In 2008 Joe proposed.
The Prop 8 same-sex marriage ban prevented a wedding in California, but when New York lawmakers voted to legalize same-sex marriage last month Mike says they started making plans.
KCBS' Anna Duckworth Reports:
Though Joe admits they're not exactly the wedding planner types, they feel having loved ones witness and support their union in mid-August is a big deal.
Joe expects the New York license will be valid in California when same-sex marriage is legalized, but if not, he says they'll get married again – in California.
