Bay Area Dad Delays Plea In Stolen Yacht Abduction Case
REDWOOD CITY (CBS / AP) -- A Bay Area man accused of kidnapping his two children and taking them on a stolen yacht for three days has postponed entering a plea for the second time.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Christopher Maffei appeared in a San Mateo County courtroom Monday after not entering a plea last week to kidnapping, child endangerment and burglary charges.
The 43-year-old Maffei tried to voice complaints about his children having been returned to their mother, alleging they are being neglected. But the judge cut him off.
He is accused of forcibly taking his 3-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son from their grandmother on Sept. 4 while the children's mother, his ex-girlfriend, was in court seeking a restraining order against him.
Maffei remains jailed on $500,000 bail until his next court date Oct. 4.
