Bay Area Crab Boats Remain Idle As Price Dispute Drags On
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) - Dungeness crab boats in the fishing ports of San Francisco, Half Moon Bay and Bodega Bay were idle for a sixth day because of a price dispute.
Crab Boat Owners Association president Larry Collins said skippers were meeting Monday morning to discuss the strike that began last Wednesday.
It has been widely reported that the strike was called because crabbers learned fish brokers planned to cut prices of fresh crab from a previously agreed $3-a-pound to $2.75 or less because of slowing demand.
