Giants Fans Think About Ballpark Neighborhood Safety Following Fatal Stabbing
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The stabbing death of a Dodgers fan following a fight between Giants and Dodgers fans last week was still fresh on the minds of fans at AT&T Park on Sunday, the last game of the season for San Francisco.
Some Giants fans said they would simply be more careful in the neighborhood surrounding the ballpark next season.
"I think you should be cautious," summed up one man. "We were in New York for the Yankees game and the one we won .. and I took off my jersey and my hat and put it in my bag before we walked out of the stadium."
"I personally sometimes I turn my phone on, the speaker, if I feel there's an uncomfortable situation so I can tape because there's two sides to every story," explained another.
Fans Thinking Twice About Their Own Safety Near Ballpark
The fans stressed, however, that the potential for conflict wasn't serious enough to keep them from attending games.
The man arrested in the death of 24-year-old Jonathan Denver was released Friday night from the San Francisco County Jail. District Attorney George Gascon has asked police for more information before he makes a decision about filing charges against, 21-year-old Michael Montgomery of Lodi in the fatal stabbing.
