BART service halted between Richmond, Millbrae stations due to emergency track work
A track maintenance vehicle derailed near the 19th Street Station in Oakland, forcing BART to cancel its Red Line service between Richmond and Millbrae stations for Wednesday, transit officials said.
There were no injuries related to the derailment, according to BART.
"We expect the Red Line to be canceled most of the day and potentially the entire day. We will run longer Orange line trains all day," BART said on social media around 5:15 a.m.
"Trains may stop at a different platform than usual at 12th and 19th stations as the trackway typically used for the Orange line is currently blocked by the derailed track maintenance vehicle," it added.
Millbrae riders from Richmond are advised to take the Orange/Berryessa train and transfer at MacArthur to a Yellow/SFO train.
"Orange line trains coming from Richmond will need to divert to West Oakland after 12th St and then turn back towards the Berryessa direction," said BART officials, who clarified that Orange line trains coming from Berryessa do not need to reroute.
Commuters from Millbrae to Richmond can take a Yellow/Antioch train and transfer at MacArthur to a Richmond train, according to BART.
