BART Recovering After Power Outage Causes Major Delays From SFO To The East Bay
(SAN FRANCISCO) (CBS SF) -- BART is recovering after a power outage at the San Francisco Airport station caused major delays Monday in both SF and East Bay directions.
Trains ran behind schedule across the Bay as operators switched out of automation and ran them manually. The power outage was reported at 3:50 p.m. and was affecting the tracks, elevators and escalators at BART's SFO station, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.
The outage only affected the BART station and did not impact the rest of the airport, according to Trost.
The problem was originally reported as a PG&E outage, but a PG&E spokesman clarified that the outage was not linked to them. Trost added that an airport repair crew performed the repairs shortly before 5 p.m.
Alternatives include express bus service, and casual carpools from San Francisco over the Bay Bridge.
There is no estimate time of restoration of power, and the system likely facing lagging delays after it's repaired as the timetables synchronize again into automation.
