BART Expecting 10,000 Extra Riders Due To Giants World Series Parade
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- BART is seeing a high number of riders Friday morning due to today's planned victory parade for the San Francisco Giants 2014 World Series championship, officials said.
BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said as of 8 a.m. officials expected 10,000 extra riders today compared to a regular Friday in October.
Trost said the Dublin-Pleasanton station has seen the most riders heading to downtown San Francisco Friday morning.
The Balboa Park and Daly City stations are the next two busiest stations.
As of 8:30 a.m., BART officials are reporting parking is sold out at the BART stations at Pittsburg Bay Point, West Dublin, West Oakland, Rockridge, Lake Merritt, Orinda and Walnut Creek.
The BART Operations Control Center is also reporting long ticket lines at stations throughout the Bay Area, and customers are being advised to buy roundtrip tickets to avoid waiting in line twice.
And if you need to cross Market Street to meet friends during the parade, you can head into a BART station and cross over that way.
There were delays at about 6:30 a.m. because of mechanical problems at the Daly City station. The problem was resolved about an hour later but there were residual delays.
